wind powered sculptures

Theo Jansen is an amazing Dutch artist that creates kinetic sculptures that resemble animals and are able to walk using the power of wind. Eventually, the artist wants to release these creatures out in herds on the beaches and allow them to live their own lives.
This. Is. Spectacular.

scarf + braid

The braid is a hair style I turn to during the hot days of summer…  I love the look hermes has achieved in this advertisement by weaving a lovely scarf through the models locks. Definitely will be giving this style a shot soon…

pac-man

While I don’t always agree with the practices of Google – today, I am in love. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of pac-man, Google has let the game take over its homepage. Click insert coin to play! Certainly one game that never gets old… Happy birthday Mr. and Mrs. Pac-Man!!

wish list

I absolutely adore the floor lamp I have in my bedroom next to  my bed. I purchased it right when I moved to New York, so it’s been with me for nearly 7 years. Unfortunately, for the past two years its been broken, but I just haven’t been able to let it go or find anything that I actually liked as a replacement. Last night it completely stopped working, so it’s time to speed up the search. I’ve got my eye on the Rowan Pharmacy Task Lamp from Restoration Hardware as a potential candidate… Thoughts?

starbursts and lattice

I recently got myself some new sheets but absolutely wish I had seen these before purchasing! I am a huge fan of both the lattice and starburst print although I would have to say I favor the lattice – especially the yellow and gray. These are truly perfect for spring!

That is all.

los angeles local listing: lazy ox canteen

(via Los Angeles Times)
(via los angeles times) complementary toasted peruvian corn
(via kevineats) marinated yellowtail… ours was served sans pomegranates
(via yelp) black and blueberry cobbler

Last night I had one of the best meals I have had in a long time, which is exactly why I have decided to make the Lazy Ox Canteen my first review of a Los Angeles restaurant on the blog! Dining downtown is something I rarely do when I head west for a visit, but that certainly will no longer be the case. Highlights of the meal included marinated yellowtail perfectly seasoned over avocado with a dollop of creme fraiche and hash browns, fried artichoke with a honey dipping sauce, caramelized cauliflower and sauteed squid with cabbage and lentils. Thank goodness we decided to continue the delicious experience with the blueberry and blackberry crumble served with vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream. Seriously, it was nothing short of extraordinary. If you are in the LA area this restaurant is a must! A true celebration of culinary awesomeness and marvelous ingredients. Cheers!

titanic ballerina pump

I am in awe of the late great Alexander McQueen’s Titanic Ballerina Pump. The juxtaposition of the heel made from what appears to be scrap metal and screws mixed next to the elegant soft pink ballerina inspired pump is quite the sight. This shoe invokes all sorts of contradictions and really embraces a look that only the most stylish and confident woman could ever pull off.

in a stitch

England-based artist Sam Gibson creates whimsical hand-embroidered pieces with contemporary pop-art images that would be fantastic and fun hanging on any wall. I especially love the single thread hanging from the balloon and comb giving the art a playful 3D effect. Check out his etsy shop, Samskiart here.

source of inspiration

I love these decor photographs of by Mark Lund. They are absolutely exquisite. I am also quite a fan of the styling in each space. Amazing uses of color, textiles, accent furniture and tasteful accessories. These beauties are inspiring!

working necklaces

I am absolutely obsessed with these pendent necklaces sold by Etsy seller Brash Lady Inc. The magnifying glass, compass, hour glass necklace, and spy telescope (that opens and closes!!) are all such awesome pieces – and they work! My favorite is the spy telescope. I like it so much I think I am going to order it!

golden light

I spotted these three lights on one of my favorite blogs oh joy! – I am a golden girl through and through so I absolutely adore these pendents. Tres chic!

desktop download

I love this free desktop for download – designed by Montreal-based design office Holley & Gill

I already downloaded it to my own computer and it looks lovely! Such a nice and bright image for spring!

wooden skin

I need a new computer and I would love to get this protective skin to go with it. Each of these are one of a kind so wood grain, patterns and knots are completely unique, which makes it even cooler.

gardening

I have a fantastic balcony at my apartment and have long been planning to get some plants and flowers out there. Now that I have spotted this amazing nautically inspired gardening set I think I am ready to get my hands dirty with soil. Nothing like good lookin’ tools to get inspired!

summer satchel

What an amazing satchel for the summer. Love the nautical inspiration, light weight material, bold colors and a cute lil knot. Perfecto.

tulips

I took this beautiful picture of tulips the other day while walking in Tribeca. Tulips are one of my favorite flowers and these colors are simply divine..

Now if I only had this sweet little vase from CB2, I would have a lovely place to display them…

chain game

I am loving this j crew necklace for its use of geometric shapes and layering of mixed metals. It’s like 3 necklaces in one – which makes me less upset about price tag… It’s the perfect piece to bring a touch of edge to any outfit.

quote of the day

wrist watch

I have a beautiful watch that I wear each and every day. It’s simple and elegant and the fact that it was a gift from my father makes me smile each time it catches my eye. But, this certainly doesn’t stop me from loving these Michael Kors watches. I think it would be quite fun to have a statement watch in rotation when I am looking to be more bold with my accessories. The look of “horn” and “tortoise” are two of my favorites – it would be a tough choice picking just one of these beauts.

shower curtain

I have decided to re-vamp some of the rooms in my apartment, well actually just two: the bathroom and bedroom. Since my bathroom is small this pretty much only allows for a new shower curtain, bath mat and maybe new decorative accessories. These are a few shower curtains that I like… Thoughts? I will be sure to keep you posted on other plans as they solidify. One thing is for certain – I am painting a wall in my bedroom! Exciting stuff!

Beginning top left, clockwise: bella shower curtain, woolrich buffalo check, hippos, cityscape, singing in the rain, marimekko almond, arbor tree, fresco fabric,
